Police are concerned residents may be confusing two separate murders over the past few weeks in Windsor.
Autumn Taggart, also known as Maya Madolyn, has been identified as the victim in and investigation that began on Sunday June 10 at around 8pm - it happened at an apartment building on University Ave. W. and McKay Ave.
Investigators set up a mobile command post and re-canvassed the area over the weekend as they search for a newer dark coloured SUV that was parked behind the 31-year-old's apartment from 2am to 7am on the morning in question.
Sergeant Steve Betteridge says it's very rare for the city of Windsor to have two homicides so close to one another.
He says the murder on Everet St. near Ford City is completely unrelated, that investigation resulted in a Windsor man being charged with First Degree Murder in the death of his 66-year-old-father.
Betteridge is hopeful residents remain on alert and bring forward any information or alert police to any items nearby that are out of the ordinary - he says police have no one in custody in the Taggart case. Sometimes it's the tiniest piece of information that can help break a case wide open," says Betteridge.
Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
