Windsor police have charged a suspect wanted in the theft of multiple Bird e-scooters.

According to police, the suspect went to police headquarters on August 20, shortly after 10 a.m., and turned himself in.

The arrest comes after police released a video on Tuesday of the suspect after receiving reports that seven Bird e-scooters were stolen in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Windemere Road in Walkerville between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. earlier this month.

Police said the motorized scooters had been stripped of parts, including their battery mechanisms, making them inoperable.

One of the stolen e-scooters was later recovered cut in half in an alley near the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue.

A 54-year-old man is charged with mischief not exceeding $5,000.
