The Northern Heat Rib Series is back in Windsor for a second time this year.
The Windsor South Rib and Beer Festival takes place this weekend outside of Devonshire Mall.
The series was in Windsor back in May for its annual event at the Riverfront Festival Plaza.
Rib series co-owner Mark Wilson says the mall event will be similar to the downtown event but will include a midway.
He says Devonshire Mall is a big hub and generates a lot of traffic.
Wilson feels it’s a great spot to host the event.
“The people that run the mall have been fantastic to deal with, and we just feel that we’re hitting on a little bit of a different pocket of Windsor that we look forward to seeing how they react to our event,” says Wilson.

He says says the event will feature three rib teams.
“We have a midway, which we don’t do at the waterfront one, the riverfront one,” he says. “So that’s going to be nice for the families to bring their kids and be able to jump on some nice rides, but we’ll have all the same stuff. We got a great band lineup this weekend. We’re going to have the blooming onion, all the ribs, and all that typical stuff.”
Wilson says they’ll see how this event goes before deciding if Windsor will have two events next year.
“Windsor has been a fantastic market for us, but we don’t want to saturate it either,” says Wilson. “So we’re going to be cautious to see how this one goes and make our call for next year.”
The event opens at 4 p.m. on Friday and at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
