A new public elementary school in LaSalle is a step closer to reality.
Mayor Ken Antaya says the town is finalizing the sale of some land near the Vollmer Centre to a developer who will then sell it to the local public school board.
He says the deal is expected to close later this month.
"Our staff has been co-ordinating the discussions between the two and looks as if they've come to an agreement on the property and the transaction should be occurring before the end of this month which is good news," says Antaya. "It's going to clear the path for them to plan and construct the public school."
Antaya adds the deal has to be done a certain way.
"We're selling it to the developer who is selling it to the school board," says Antaya. "There's no profits being made, it's just a matter of that's how it has to be transacted and the location of the school of course is perfect."
