A Tecumseh youth has been charged with impaired driving by drug following a crash over the weekend.
Police were called Saturday, October 27 at 2:30pm after a white SUV struck a parked vehicle on Pelissier St. between Erie and Elliott St. West.
No one was hurt.
When officers spoke to the driver, he showed signs of impairment by drug.
He was arrested. Officers searched and seized 135 grams of suspected cannabis marijuana.
He was taken to police headquarters and checked by a 'drug recognition evaluator' who deteremined he was impaired by drug, identifying the drug as cannabis.
Cannabis became legal in Canada October 17, for people over the age of 19.
The youth, who is 17 years old, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, and being a young person possessing cannabis in an amount more than 5 grams of dried cannabis.
Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, he can not be named.
