A group of young talented Windsor musicians helped to collect 900lbs of food for the Unemployed Help Centre.
The Diplomats Drum and Bugle Corps collected the non-perishable food items within two hours from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, November 24th at the Walker Rd. Real Canadian Superstore.
They also raised $350.
This is the third year, the Diplomats spread holiday cheer by playing live music and collected food to help the hungry.
"It was really good and to think we were only out there for only a couple of hours from 10am to 12pm, what a great way to start the holiday," says Unemployed Help Centre Food Bank Co-ordinator Lynda Davidson.
She sees about 100 families a day at the food bank proving there is a desperate need for donations.
"We think of the holidays as the giving time, but really food banks need food donations throughout the year," she says.
The Diplomats is a non-profit musical organization providing youth, ages 8 to 22, with free music and dance education.
