(Bronx, NY) -- The Yankees are making a blockbuster deal to acquire a star slugger from the Padres.
The Bronx Bombers are acquiring outfielder Juan Soto from San Diego in a seven-player trade.
The deal comes just 16 months after the 25-year-old Soto was traded from the Nationals to the Padres.
San Diego is also shipping outfielder Trent Grisham to the Yanks in exchange for pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, Randy Vasquez, and catcher Kyle Higashioka.
Soto batted .275 with 35 home runs and 109 runs batted in last season.
He also helped the Nationals capture a World Series title in 2019.
Soto is entering the final year of his contract.
