Windsor Regional Hospital is cleaning up after Sunday's rain event.
Speaking on AM800's The Morning Drive, President and CEO David Musyj says both the Met and Ouellette locations experienced water damage over the weekend.
"Our drains turn into geysers where water starts shooting up through our drains and flooding various areas, especially on the ground floor," he says.
Musyj says thankfully damage wasn't as bad as the hospital experienced during 2018 floods, but close.
"The team once again did an amazing job Sunday afternoon, spent a few hours pushing the water towards the drains once they opened back up again and once the geysers stopped but yeah, with everything else going on, it's like the last thing we need."
As AM800 News has previously reported, Musyj says the hospital has invested in something called "Quick Dam" to help stop the flow of water.
"Rolled up things you lay out and once they ingest water, they inflate and create a damming situation When this happens, we're ready to roll,” he says. “Staff know to put them in front of doors to try and keep the water from going where say there's a CT or an x-ray machine."
According to Musyj no surgeries or procedures have been delayed because of the rain, but it did hold up everything that was scheduled at the hospital for Sunday afternoon.
