World-renowned humanitarian Sri Sri Ravi Shankar wants to eliminate violence and bring happiness.
His Art of Living Foundation promotes the idea of meditation as a way to bring happiness and peace.
Speaking to a group at the Ciociaro Club in Windsor, Sri Sri explained that meditation helps with depression and other mental health issues.

Essex MP Tracey Ramsey sees the potential for using meditation.
"Meditation is a tool we can use to achieve peace but also to really help, I think a lot of folks who are struggling with issues in our region, in particular around depression, people are struggling with addictions," says Ramsey. "It's such an important tool I think to achieve that peace we all need so we can do our work more effectively in the community."
Sri Sri had the audience do a relaxation exercise and a 20 minute meditation.

Former Ontario Economic Development Minister Sandra Pupatello believes the techniques can benefit society.
"I think there's a whole other level of consciousness and awareness that so many of us ignore and, what we're learning is, if we can gravitate to this kind of meditation and real mindfulness that we develop a whole new way of interacting with people, literally solving world issues," says Pupatello.
A meditation movement is being formed locally called WE Meditate.
