Work is underway on a new 105 room Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Lakeshore.
The six storey hotel will be located on Amy Croft Dr.
Davide Petretta is President of Petretta Construction and Petcon Hospitality Group.
He says work is moving along.
"It's been a pretty onerous zoning process with multiple different developments happening there at the same time but we broke ground basically end of October, we're now going to be at the second floor level," says Petretta.
Petretta says there is a buzz in the community for the new hotel.
"We went through the process of getting market studies done and did all our evaluations but it's really interesting as we went through the zoning, just to get the feedback from the people and the municipality and the need for this product," says Petretta.
He expects to have the hotel completed by the end of 2020.
The hotel will offer guests a meeting room, dining room, breakfast pantry, business centre, fitness centre and an indoor pool.
