Windsor-Essex is going to get its first taste of winter later today.
Environment Canada has issued a Weather Advisory for this area along with Chatham-Kent.
The advisory calls for the temperature to drop below the freezing mark with scattered showers changing to flurries later this afternoon. That could impact road conditions late this afternoon and during the evening.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says the flurries and snow will not last long with only 2 to 3 cm expected, but there will be issues this evening as the temperature drops and causes slick conditions on the roads.
"The real issue is that the temperature is going to go below 0C this evening," says Kimbell. "That's going to cause an issue on roads with obviously roads becoming icy and treacherous for drivers."
The forecast is also calling for a gusty northwest wind up to 60 km/h, which will cause blowing snow.
