Members of the LaSalle Police Service are doing their part of to support the Salvation Army shelter and food bank in Windsor.
This Saturday, the public will have the chance to help stuff a LaSalle police cruiser by donating lightly used or new men's coats along with non-perishable food items.
LaSalle Police Senior Constable Terry Seguin says they will have a cruiser outside the Zehrs on Malden Road.
"So we're going to be there with some members from the Town of LaSalle, LaSalle Police Service, members of the Salvation Army to help them grab some men's coats for their men's shelter in Windsor and the food drive to help the food bank there," he says.
Seguin says LaSalle is a very generous community.
"They've been very supportive in our past efforts to help support out local food bank. We did a food drive for the Salvation Army in October. Normally we give out a list of items, as shoppers enter the store, of things the food bank needs. The shoppers have been more than generous with bags of food," he says.
Seguin adds that it has been cold, so if we can keep our most vulnerable citizens warm, that would be great.
The winter coat and food drive will take place Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot outside the Zehrs at 5890 Malden Road.
