The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a 'Watershed Conditions Statement' because of predicted winds.
It says given the current high lake levels and winds for Thursday and Friday, there is a possibility of near shore erosion with waves overtopping and spray for the Lake Erie shoreline, including Pelee Island.
Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 40km/hour causing waves to be up to one to 1.5 metres in height.
Current lake levels are below Flood Watch criteria, but with the duration of the winds, shoreline erosion is a possibility.
