It's 2017 and for many Windsorites this means hitting the gym once again.
Riverside Family Fitness and other gyms across the city are seeing an increase in memberships this January.
Owner of Riverside Family Fitness, Joey Flores, says January is the busiest time of year for gyms.
He says every year a new wave of people come in with the New Year's resolution of getting into shape.
"It is something that people want to do," says Flores. "They have gotten everything out of their system from all the drinks and alcohol and holidays and over indulging in all the food so people make a New Year's resolution to stay in shape and we are a good club for that."
He says getting into shape is a lifestyle.
"What I always tell people is that this is a marathon and not a sprint," says Flores. "If you come into this and you try to get everything done in a week you are going to burn out. The best way to approach this is to make this a lifestyle."
He says people trying to lose weight gained over the holidays should not overwork their bodies.
"I am preaching a lifestyle," says Flores. "I want people to do this in a healthy way. We are not trying to lose 50 pounds in a week. You should be losing anywhere between one to four pounds a week, that is healthy. There is a formula for that and there is a specific way for that and that is what I teach people here, that is what I preach at my club."
Flores says he is more than happy to take new members into his gym.
He says his gym is family friendly with a free child watch area and is a judgement-free zone.
