A Windsor woman is lucky to be alive after a loose wheel on Highway 401 smashed into her car.
Alyssa Richmond was heading home from work in Blenheim around 11:15pm on Tuesday when a wheel from an eastbound transport truck came flying through her windshield.
She was in the westbound lanes near Belle River Rd.
"It ripped part of the roof off and it came down and right away my line of sight was impaired, I couldn't see where I was going" Richmond told CTV Windsor.
She suffered cuts to the back of her head, face and hand which required stitches and staples. "I felt all this blood coming down from my head" says Richmond. "My front windshield was all shattered. I ended up getting out through the passenger side."
OPP are investigating the incident, but have not confirmed if any charges will be laid.
Richmond is considering legal action.
