Windsor-West NDP MP Brian Masse is eager to get to work as Parliament is set to resume next week.
He has been re-appointed the NDP critic for Innovation, Science and Industry as well as the Great Lakes critic — similar portfolios he has held in the past.
Masse has also meet with newly elected Windsor-Tecumseh Liberal MP Irek Kusmierczyk, Essex Conservative MP Chris Lewis and Chatham-Kent-Leamington Conservative MP Dave Epp and says there is a good understanding of the issues shaping this region in southwestern Ontario.
Masse says having the Great Lakes critic portfolio is important to him.
"We believe that climate change in the Great Lakes are going to really emerge as a signficant issue in the years to come that will require a specific strategy, so we feel that we will pay particular attention to," he says.
Under this minority Liberal government, Masse says he will focus on three top local priorities.
"Automotive, the single sports betting bill and the Ojibway Shores with regards to a national urban park," he adds. "But I will be looking for other opportunities because poverty is a huge issue for our community. Here in Windsor-Essex in particular my riding, what we have in terms of programs and services is not working."
Parliament resumes December 5th with the Speech from the Throne.
