The MPP for Windsor-West believes the Doug Ford Conservatives have forgotten this region's auto workers.
Lisa Gretzky brought up the issue at Queen's Park Wednesday stating the PC's have no auto strategy going forward.
The comments come after Ontario's trade representative in Washington was fired and as trade tensions continue to escalate with the United States.
Gretzky told the house the auto industry has been left in the dark.
"Auto and manufacturing jobs are integral to Windsor's economy," she says. "Our entire community, and many others like it, depend on the health and growth of the sector. Yet, there was not one mention of the automotive sector in the PC plan. We don't know what this government has planned for the industry, if anything at all."
Gretzky adds, automotive jobs are not a priority for the Progressive Conservatives.
"They would be happy to see the auto sector die threatening to end all government investment. During the election, the Conservatives said they would cut the Jobs and Prosperity Fund which provides millions of dollars of necessary investment in our auto sector."
Minister of Finance Vic Fedelli responded to Gretzky's concerns stating Trade Minister Jim Wilson is currently in Washington advocating for Canadian jobs dependent on the trade relationship with the United States.
Wilson is speaking today at a U.S. Department of Commerce hearing investigating national security issues connected to importing vehicles and vehicle parts.
