A prestigious honour for two former union leaders in Windsor.
June Muir and Len Campbell will receive the Charles E. Brooks Community Service Award.
Muir is the CEO of the Unemployed Help Centre, and past President of CUPE Local 3626 and at the Community Care Access Centre
Campbell worked for Ford Motor Company and was the longest standing President of UNIFOR Local 240. He is still active in the labour movement and volunteers for many social justice causes.
"Both June Muir and Len Campbell have been steadfast champions of the Windsor-Essex community, especially for those who are vulnerable and need our help," says Lorraine Goddard, the CEO of the United Way. "We are grateful to work closely with these two outstanding leaders in the labour movement, and we wish them our sincere congratulations on their achievements."
Both will be honoured by the United Way of Windsor-Essex and the Windsor & District Labour Council.
The groups co-created the Charles E. Brooks Community Service Award, which is presented annually to a trade unionist in recognition of outstanding contributions in the area of voluntary community service.
The 41st annual Appreciation Night will take place on Friday, November 16 at the Ciociaro Club.
