A Windsor construction worker has been identified as the victim of an work-related accident in Welland.
Curtis Jay Appleyard, 44, was found in critical condition after a piece of construction material had fallen, hitting Appleyard.
It happened in the area of King St. and Second St. just before 2:30pm on November 12, 2019.
According to Niagara Police, he was taken to an area hospital and was pronounced dead.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
According to his obituary by Families First Funeral Home, Appleyard "was a wonderful soul with his bubbly eyes, big smile and his genuine hugs. His quick wit, confident manner, tenacious spirit and ability to make connections will be forever held in our hearts."
A Curtis Appleyard Memorial Fund has been set up through GoFundMe with a goal of raising $50,000.
The GoFundMe page indicates Appleyard was an iron worker.
