WINDSOR — The City of Windsor wants to get some input on what residents think about short-term rentals, and whether they should be regulated.
Short-term rentals include Airbnb, Vrbo and HomeAway.
The city is holding an open house in March to get some feedback on the growing industry which has raised some concerns in other municipalities such as Toronto and Montreal.
Windsor does not currently regulate the industry.
Speaking on AM800's the Afternoon News, Supervisor of Licensing Craig Robertson says some bylaws already cover some issues.
"I know with any type of rental, we do have our regulatory matters that may come forward regarding traffic, noise, garbage which we already have existing bylaws to deal with those," he says. "With these come some concerns regarding zoning and also we are not alone with affordable housing availability as these start to become more popular with our landlords."
The Open House will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm at the downtown Aquatic Centre.
