Socks are like gold to a homeless person says 15-year-old Sarah Lewis of Windsor which is why she donates every year to Street Help.
Today, she donated 2,000 pairs of socks and close to $21,000 in cash to the Street Help Homeless Centre.
Lewis has been donating to the centre for nine years but today's donation was her largest to date.
She says the money and socks were collected in several different fundraisers.
"We did a sock walk so students paid a toonie or a new pair of socks to walk around the neighbourhood so students could feel the need for socks in cold weather, I have Glenwood Public School involved and Central and Westview are collecting socks," says Lewis.

Street Help will use the financial donation to pay its hydro and gas bill for all of 2017.
