Ontario has approved Windsor residents for the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program, which people will have to apply for.
As well, the City of Windsor is stepping up garbage collection in the wake of last week's flooding.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says the volume of material at the curb is huge and needs to be taken to a proper disposal site quickly.
He says there will not be blue or red box collection for the time being with recycling cancelled for the rest of this week.
Dilkens says 10 trucks from the Greater Toronto Area are being sent here and there may be another 3 from Thunder Bay.

He says they'll be using dump trucks and front end loaders to gather the garbage.
"You'll see those out probably as soon as this weekend as well, just to get through the mountain of trash that's curbside," says Dilkens. "We understand how horrible it is, that it smells and is unsightly and we're trying to get it off the front lawns as quickly as possible."
Dilkens says their goal is to have collection continue 24 hours a day, but there are limits to how many hours the drivers can be on the road.
10 recycling trucks are being used for garbage pickup and 10 trucks from the GTA will come to Windsor, making 20 additional vehicles on the road.
