The city is taking steps to help protect homeowners from flooding during heavy rainfall.
It has applied for $32-million in federal funding to help pay for upcoming infrastructure projects such as improvements to sewers, pumping stations and storage areas which will cost nearly $90-million.
Mayor Drew Dilkens believes those projects align perfectly with Infrastructure Canada's $2-billion "Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund".
Dilkens says, “tapping into these federal funds would be a big boost in offsetting city expenses.”
The city should get a response in the spring.
