Windsor's Ronald McDonald House is celebrating its first anniversary.
The home, which is located inside of the Met Camp at Windsor Regional Hospital, opened on May 5, 2016.
Ronald McDonald House Windsor Manager Christine Richer describes year one as "very rewarding."
"The house offers two programs, a long-term stay program and a day pass program," says Richer. "We've had quite a few people that have come through including a dad that came in on the second day when we launched the program. We were giving them a tour of the house and told him he could sign up for a shower, he broke down and started to cry and he said I haven't showered in five days, I haven't wanted to leave my son's side."
The Windsor RMH is the first one in Canada that's located inside a hospital.
A birthday celebration is planned for 11am.
There will also be public tours from 12:30pm to 6:30pm.
