The City of Windsor will have to tighten its belt a bit to make up for the cost of the strike at Caesars Windsor.
The $1.2-million payment received from OLG for hosting the casino in the first quarter of the year, April to June is down some 60%.
In the same period last year the amount was about $3.5-million.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says the city knew the lengthy labour dispute would have an impact.
"I'm not concerned about it yet, but I anticipated when the strike was going 50 or more days that there was going to be an impact and of course we've seen that impact," says Dilkens.
Dilkens adds the payment is just one of many revenue streams for the city.
"I think what we have to do is look at, as we always do, we look at our entire budget from a global perspective," says Dilkens. "So we'll look at where there's lost revenue, where there are savings and expenses and that will get reported out over time in terms of any variance report that comes back quarterly to city council"
Ironically Windsor's loss is a gain for Dresden and Point Edward, whose casinos saw an uptick in business during that period.
