Windsor city council is moving ahead with its enhanced capital budget projects for 2018.
On Monday, council gave the final approval for the projects that were discussed during budget deliberations.
Some projects include funding for the Windsor International Film Festival, improvements along boat access to Peche Island, road work and park upgrades.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says the budget also includes $5.25-million for themes and districts in different city neighbourhoods.
He says the first district will be the Walkerville Distillery District.
"I think we have to fine tune what's in those drawings and then bring it out to the wider community to have a public consultation on what they think that district should look like and then it's a matter of getting the money and move forward with implementation," says Dilkens.
Dilkens says the public will have a say in the district.
"We have to cost out the different items once we come to a resolution on what those assets would be that help create the district," he says. "Then after we have public consultation, come back to city council with the plan showing what we intend to do and help we plan to move forward."
The mayor would also like to incorporate the Hiram Walker statue.
Some work will begin this year in the Walkerville district but the majority of the work will be done in 2019.
Dilkens says the city plans to hold public consultations in the spring to discuss the Walkerville District.
