Windsor's mayor is going to ask council to delay a session to decide on zoning for the land where the new acute care hospital is to go.
Drew Dilkens is going to introduce a motion Monday, asking the date for a joint meeting of council and the Planning Committee be delayed a month.
He says there are a couple of reasons why he wants the community and council to have additional time.
Dilkens says unlike previous issues where council handled the zoning itself, this process is inclusive.
"City Council approved including the committee in the discussion. By doing it together with city council so that all the deciding members around the table could hear the same information at the same time and ask questions without duplication."
He says people will have an additional month to review the complicated, technical details of the re-zoning.
"This will move the discussion of the item from the original time of July 16th to a new date on August 13th, which again will be a joint meeting of city council and the planning standing committee"
Dilkens knows opponents of the proposed site will use the meeting as a venue to re-open the debate over the location.
He stresses the sole point of the joint meeting is to change the zoning of the land to allow for construction of a hospital.
All the documents related to the zoning application are posted on the city's website.
