The Guelph Storm now have the top two picks from the 2016 OHL Priority Selection on their blueline after acquiring defenceman Owen Lalonde from the Sudbury Wolves.
Lalonde was taken 2nd overall by the Wolves after the Storm grabbed defenceman Ryan Merkley 1st overall.
Lalonde is a Riverside native and played for Windsor Minor before being selected second overall by the Wolves.
Lalonde was traded for defenceman Nolan Makkonen and six future picks, including three picks that were originally the Spitfires'.
In his first year with the Wolves, he posted 12 points in 64 games during the 2016-17 season. Lalonde also picked up a silver medal with Team Canada Black at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November.
Storm training camp begins Monday, August 28.
