The City of Windsor is reminding drivers about some snowplow etiquette with the snowfall we've received.
The city focuses on the main routes first and if four inches of snow have fallen, they will hit city streets.
Executive Director of Operations Dwayne Dawson says drivers need to be patient and give the plow extra room.
"We highly discourage the passing of snow plows when there is multiple lanes on the road," says Dawson. "The plow visibility isn't the same as a vehicle."
Dawson says if the plow is putting down salt, give them some space for your vehicle's sake. "There is a chance that it could chip the paint or get up and underneath and get into your grill and stuff like that depending on how close you are."
Dawson says plows typically operate at 40 km/h. "It is going to take an extra minute or two to get to your destination because you are following a plow, but I think the added minute or two is much worth it to avoid any other issues."
He points out driving too close to a snowplow can lead to poor visibility.
