The CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital is encouraging people to check on their elderly neighbours and relatives with this recent and sudden blast of hot humid weather.
On Sunday, five elderly people were taken to the hospital suffering from heat and dehydration.
In some cases, it was due to the air conditioning not being turned on until June 1.
Speaking on AM800's the Morning Drive, Hospital CEO David Musyj says it doesn't take long for the elderly to feed the effects of this heat.
"Elderly people living at home don't turn it [air conditioning] on or don't think of turning it on until rather late and it doesn't take long for them to be impacted by the heat and dehydration," says Musyj.
Today's high is expected to reach 33C with a humidex of 39C.
A special weather statement has also been issued noting these conditions pose a health risk.
