We are just a couple weeks away from the "Steam to Steam" system being installed at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus.
Some elective surgeries were cancelled in August after scorching or staining was found on the cloths that wrap surgical equipment.
Windsor Regional Hospital President and CEO, David Musyj refers to the new system as "the ultimate solution."
He says the system should be arriving today or right after Thanksgiving, but isn't sure how long testing of the system will take once it's installed.
"It would be nice if we were up and running in two weeks," Musyj says. "We still have to get it here, install it. For the last four weeks we've taken advantage of that time again to get the area prepped for installation."
The cost for the two "steam to steam" machines, including installation is $500,000.
