Officials at Windsor Regional Hospital will look at enhancing security measures following a weekend stabbing at the Ouellette Campus.
Hospital CEO David Musyj says officials will meet Tuesday morning to discuss possible changes.
He says there are security measures in place for mental health ward patients on day passes re-entering the unit.
Musyj says currently patients are searched on the floor of the ward before re-entering the unit.
He says there is also a sniffer dog doing random checks.
Musyj says changes will be made.
"We have the security measures in place once they get to the unit to identifying any of these issues," says Musyj. "What we have to do now as a hospital is look at, do you push that further out meaning is there a check in for people on day passes that occurs outside of the physical four walls of the hospital."
Musyj says this was the seventh day pass for the accused.
He says the 17-year-old has acted out before but never to this degree.
