Charges have been laid after Windsor police had to tackled a man allegedly carrying a hatchet who was running toward a group of children.
Police were called Sunday, July 1 at 12:40pm to the area of McDougall St. and Tecumseh Rd. east for a man riding a bike and reportedly carrying a hatchet in his pants.
Officers found him and tried to stop him in Jackson Park but he refused to stop.
Instead, he got off the bike and began running directly toward a number of families and children enjoying the splash pad.
Officers chased him down and used a taser on him to gain control.
Police found he was carrying a hatchet, an air soft pistol and a small amount of oxycodone tablets.
Darrell McNaughton, 38, from Windsor, is charged with obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation.
