The Windsor Police Service says its Offender Management Unit has completed 197 bail compliance checks so far this year, leading to 87 criminal investigations.
Police say 42 per cent of offenders checked were found to be violating court-ordered release conditions. Those investigations resulted in 130 Criminal Code charges, 113 offender arrests, and the arrest of four sureties.
The unit is currently monitoring 104 offenders using GPS ankle bracelets, a 116 per cent increase compared to the same time last year.
Windsor police say court-ordered release conditions are designed to protect the community, and officers take enforcement action when those conditions are breached.
