The event was in support of the Kids First Food Bank
Windsor police joined forces with the Windsor Homes Coalition for the Stuff-A-Cruiser Food Drive.
Over the weekend, officers parked a cruiser in front of the Real Canadian Superstore on Dougal Ave. to collect food for the Kids First Food Bank.
Constable Amanda Heiser organized the event. She says the Kids First Food Bank is empty but the outpouring of support has been amazing.
"The loss prevention guys that work here, they are so awesome," Heiser says. "They usually get everything together for us and all we have to do is pull up the cruisers and away we go."
She told AM800 News people are mixing up items, they're receiving everything from canned goods to pastas.
"This time around, it seems to be a lot more than Christmas time, and a lot more variety because they don't just have a the bag that has certain things in it," says Heiser. "They choose whatever they want and they're coming around and putting it in the cruiser for us."
The Kids First Food Bank helps as many as 1,200 kids every year.
