A Windsor, Ont. police officer has been charged with criminal harassment.
According to Windsor Police Service the 29-year veteran of the force was arrested in Chatham-Kent on Friday Aug. 14.
Chatham-Kent Police Service is handling the investigation and the constable's name will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
According to police, the officer and the victim had been in a relationship prior to the arrest.
The officer is charged with harassment by repeated communication and was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 22.
Windsor police say the officer has been suspended from duty with pay.
