Windsor police are investigating after woman was sexually assaulted while walking alone along the riverfront.
Officer were called to the area of Riverside Dr. W. and California Ave. on Thursday around 11:50pm for a report of an assault.
Police say a woman reported she was walking near Patricia Ave. and was attacked from behind with no warning, causing her to fall to the ground.
According to police, the woman was bit during the assault.
She suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
Police say the woman was able to scream for assistance but the suspect fled the area and was last seen running up the hill from the riverfront towards Patricia Ave.
Police believe the incident appears to be random as the victim and suspect are not known to each other.
The Major Crimes Unit is asking those living in the area to check their video surveillance equipment or if anyone was driving in the area and have a dash board camera to check their footage.
The suspect is described as a black man, 25-30 years old, wearing a black hooded sweater, loose black pants and a black baseball hat.
Police say the suspect was also described as running very fast away from the scene.
