The Deputy Chief of Windsor Police agrees the number of murders in the city in 2018 is a concern.
There have been 10 murder investigations — nine homicideds and one manslaughter — so far this year, nine homicides and one manslaughter case.
Brad Hill says he's never seen this many murders so close together.
"It is troubling we've had this many, certainly more than we've had in my history as a police officer and I've been a police officer for almost 35 years," says Hill. "And we are certainly into uncharted territory. They're not related so it's, they're pretty much individual events."
Deputy Chief Hill says there is no pattern to the homicides with some drug related, some domestic and others gun related.
He credits the Major Crimes Branch and other officers for their work in solving these cases.
"They're doing an awesome job at keeping up with the workload, but it is taxing and we realize that and we are trying to give them as much support as we can," says Hill. "And we have had success in getting that support with other units, with our drug squad and our target base units and everyone working together and our patrol response officers are doing a fantastic job."
As of November 2nd, arrests have been made in every case except in the shooting death of Jason Solomon.
