The Windsor Police 150th anniversary cruiser is turning some heads.
It has received first place in the "Best Dressed" police vehicle category by "Blue Line", which is Canada's law enforcement magazine.
The annual "Best Dressed Police Vehicles Award" program highlights innovative and effective designs for police vehicle graphics, equipment and installation.
The 150 anniversary cruiser was unveiled by Windsor police in April 2017. It is a 2017 Dodge Charger which celebrates the force's past, present and future.
Windsor police Sergeant Steve Betteridge says this vehicle stands out.
"This vehicle, probably quite a bit of our community, was able to see earlier in the year. It's still out and about. It's is still active vehicle."
The cruiser was designed by a local front line officer, and worked with community partners on the design. Betteridge says there is a high demand for this vehicle.
"Another measurement that I know firsthand about is the number of inquiries to have that vehicle, because we only have one of them, to attend some certain events that we do requested throughout the year to be at."
The assigned vehicle number is 6744 which honours the memory of Senior Constable John Atkinson which was Atkinson's badge number.
There are a number of highlights for the vehicle such as its hood resembles police cruisers from the 1930's & 40's.
