The province's police watchdog has ended its investigation after a man twisted his ankle while in Windsor police custody.
Just after midnight on Sunday, January 6th, Windsor police and EMS were called to Parent Ave. and Wyandotte St. about a 47-year-old man lying on a sidewalk unconscious.
They found the man was very drunk and he was given the option of going to the hospital or police cells--he picked the cells.
But as he got out of the prisoner van, his right ankle turned inward and he stumbled.
He complained of pain and was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a fractured and dislocated ankle.
The province's Special Investigations Unit found the injury had nothing to do with police conduct and the investigation was terminated.
