Preparations are well underway for the Windsor Riverfront Fireworks Party.
On June 26 the Windsor Parade Corporation will be hosting the outdoor party for locals to experience the Ford Fireworks over the Detroit River.
This year’s party takes place at the Bistro at the River, with officials saying there will be entertainment, appetizers and drink samples upon arrival, a full buffet and complimentary wine, dessert buffet to go along with the fireworks.
Executive Director Maggie Durocher says ticket sales have been really good this year.
"Once again we'll have great entertainment, our headliner has been the band Nemesis for about the last 15 years. They're amazing. Clinton Anderson, who's joined us for years, will be doing some folk music prior to. We've got a magician, a great menu, and we've expanded our appetizer and hors d'oeuvre hour, so I think people will really enjoy it," she said.
Durocher says this a night they look forward to every year, and she's encouraging people who are interesting in coming out to get their tickets before they are gone.
"We always have people at the gate at the last minute wanting in, but we just can't do that because of trying to prepare food and trying to make sure there's enough for everybody. So there's no ticket sales day of, but it's a great party. We have some folks that come from Ohio that have come every year since the very first year."
She says they're ahead this year in terms of planning compared to where they were last year, but everybody usually looks to see what the weather is going to be like.
"Once we get to two weeks out they look at the weather, and if it looks like there's going to be no chance of rain, they buy the tickets up really quick but I'm happy with tickets this year. We also offer a special rate for businesses and also allow them to bring their banners and put their swag out on their table," she said.
Ticket sales for the event end on June 23, and a link to purchase tickets can be found here.
