A former Windsor man who fled from Ohio to Quebec after strangling his wife has pleaded guilty to murder.
33-year-old Kyle Sheppard was sentenced to life in prison by a Toledo judge for killing his high school sweet heart Katie Sheppard.
Court heard Sheppard used a belt to kill his wife.
The couple was married for four years but documents revealed Katie had an affair with a co-worker.
The case arose when the 29-year-old failed to report to work at a dry cleaner's on November 2nd, 2012.
Her body was found on the front porch of her Toledo home.
Sheppard is a dual citizen and crossed into Canada before surrendering to police in Quebec two days later.
He spent years fighting extradition but was handed over to American authorities last year.
Sheppard is not be eligible for parole for at least 15 years.
