Jacob Robson from Windsor is taking part in the Detroit Tigers training camp in Lakeland Florida this week as the Massey grad was an 8th round draft pick of the Tigers last year.
The 22-year-old outfielder started in the Tiger organization last year with their Gulf Coast League team, then moved up to play single 'A' ball with Connecticut.
Robson told AM800's 'The Morning Drive' being in the Tigers organization is a dream come true.
"I grew up watching the Tigers and they were my favourite baseball team always,"says Robson "I've always been a Detroit sports fan, so getting the opportunity to play for them you can't do better than that."
Robson says he also really wanted to be a pro hockey player.
"I kind of always wanted to play in the NHL when I was a youg kid, and it came to a point in high school when I had to make a decision, between baseball and hockey, and I ended up choosing baseball and it ended up working out so far," he says. "Obviously I haven't achieved the ultimate goal yet, but I'm on my way."
Robson figures he may start the season with the West Michigan Whitecaps (the low 'A' ball club).
