Forensic pathologist testifies in murder trial

A Windsor woman suffered 69 stab wounds, cuts and slices during an attack that claimed her life.

The jury at the John Wayne Pierre murder trial heard testimony Monday morning from the forensic pathologist who conducted the autopsy on the body of 42-year-old Lesley Watterworth.

Dr. Elena Tugaleva concluded the fatal wound was a 15cm stab wound to Watterworth's back which hit her lung, abdominal cavity and liver.

Watterworth's body was found in November 2016 in her home at 925 Curry Ave.

The pathologist testified there were also several defensive wounds on Watterworth's hands and forearms.

She also lost more than 20% of her blood.

Pierre, Watterworth's boyfriend at the time, is charged with second-degree-murder.

Earlier in the trial, the jury heard there were screams for help coming from Watterworth's home.
