Windsor West MP Brian Masse is joining forces with Canadian Blood Services to collect 150 blood donations for 'Canada 150.'
Masse says his staff has been busy with several project's to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday but the idea of giving the gift of life sets the blood drive apart from the rest. "That unconditional gift is one of the best and strongest gifts that you can give. You never know who the recipient is going to be, you never will know, but the reality of it is, there's going to be someone in need."
While he hinted at a slight fear of needles, Masse says he's never had the time to donate blood before. "It will be a first for me. I haven't done it, don't know the reasons why I really haven't. I've just been busy and never made the time and I think I'll be back in the future."
Donors can give blood beginning today at the Canadian Blood Services Clinic on Grand Marais Rd. E. at Plymouth Dr. from 11:30am until 7:30pm.
There will also be clinics on Friday and Saturday from 8am to 12pm.
Masse says some walk in times are available, but those wishing to donate should call 1-888-236-6283 or visit Blood.ca to make an appointment.
