Family, friends, colleagues and patients are bidding farewell to a beloved doctor.
Dr. Gordon Jasey, local obstetrician and gynaecologist, passed away on Friday, July 12th at the age of 90.
Chief of Staff at Windsor Regional Hospital Dr. Gary Ing called Dr. Jasey a 'legend' delivering thousands of babies over his career.
"Dr. Gordon Jasey, he is a legend in his own time and he is loved by many, he is going to be missed by his patients and our hospital," says Dr. Ing.
Dr. Jasey earned his Doctor of Medicine at Dalhousie University in 1956 and began a family practice in Windsor, serving as a physician and surgeon in Windsor and Essex County for 62 years.
He became the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Grace Hospital as well.
"Those who are around him, the staff, colleagues and also the patients and family, really appreciate for Dr. Jasey have done for us over the many years," says Dr. Ing who had three of his children delivered by Dr. Jasey. "Those are the treasured moments that you spend with your obstetrician in the delivery room."
The funeral service for Dr. Jasey is Monday, July 15 at 12pm at Families First on Dougall Ave.
During his life, he was also honoured with the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship, the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal and numerous medical awards.
