Residents of a townhouse complex on Ypres Ave. in Windsor who were flooded last week have received a visit from Mayor Drew Dilkens.
Dilkens contacted city administration to try and help the lower income residents.
So he went to Walmart and purchased 70, $100 gift certificates to hand out.
He tells AM800 News he didn't like hearing that the residents had to choose between food or school supplies.
Dilkens, along with his wife and children, went to the housing complex on multiple occasions over the weekend to hand deliver the gift certifications and to reach every single unit.
Dilkens says the money will come from the city or through his own mayor's office budget.
Dilkens says it was just the, "right thing to do."
