A Windsor man has been found guilty of trying to kill a mother and her two daughters in a house fire in the city's east end.
44-year old Ken Kormendy was found guilty of three counts of attempted murder by arson in a house fire on Balfour Boulevard which badly burned a 7-year-old girl.
In October 2015, Kormendy poured gasoline in a bedroom where Sheri Rueda and her daughter Isabel were sleeping and lit the fire.
The court heard the two were in a relationship which was coming to an end.
The judge ruled Rueda's testimony was logically and made sense whereas Kormendy's version of events was impossible.
Kormendy denied the accusations and said Rueda was the one who started the fire.
The crown is seeking a life sentence for Kormendy with parole ineligibility for at least ten years.
Rueda's family friend Marty Doll says 7-year-old Isabel is having a tough time in her recovery
"Horrible. Just the scars and the emotional and physical, it is just brutal to do that to a little girl," Doll told reporters outside of the courthouse.
Isabel Rueda suffered burns to 15% of her body including severe scarring on her face.
Sentencing submissions have been set for March 16th.
