A Windsor man is facing jail time after pleading guilty to luring.
A sentencing hearing took place Wednesday for 23-year-old Danange Seneus after he pleaded guilty in February to communicating with a person under the age of 16 for facilitating an offence.
In May 2016, Seneus, who was 21-years-old at the time, contacted a 14-year-old girl over Facebook and had a casual conversation.
Over a one month period, the conversations became more sexual in nature, text messages were exchanged and he began asking sexual questions.
The girl's mother discovered the conversations and went to police.
During a sentencing hearing in Superior Court, the defence asked for a sentence of 8 to 12 months in jail, while the crown asked for 18 months to 2 years less a day in jail.
Court heard Seneus arrived in Canada at the age of 16 from Haiti and he was unaware of the consequences of his actions.
Seneus told the court today that he now understands what he did was wrong.
"I'm sorry and I wish I never did it," he said.
Justice Renee Pomerance will hand down the sentence March 29th.
