A Windsor man has been charged with first degree murder in connection with the city's latest homicide.
Police were called Wednesday at 1am to Caesars Windsor for a man who was in custody on outstanding warrants.
During the investigation, officers learned the man may have been involved in an incident at a home on Curry Ave near Laing.
Police went to the home and found the body of a 42-year-old woman with 'obvious signs of trauma' in the kitchen.
Windsor Police Staff Sergeant Mark Denonville says there was an incident at the home Tuesday afternoon where police are currently executing a search warrant.
"We know there was a disturbance at 925 Curry that was heard by several neighbours and passersby," says Denonville.
Police were not initially called about the disturbance.
47-year-old John Wayne Pierre of Windsor is charged with first degree murder and two counts of breach of recognizance.
He was arraigned in court Thursday morning.
Police says Pierre and the victim had been dating since April.
